
3D cone beam imaging is a filmless digital x-ray scanner that is specially designed for scanning the area of the face and jaws. A quick comfortable open and painless scan rotates around the patient's head and gathers complete 3D and 2D information in a matter of seconds. It provides the doctor a thorough visualization of the entire maxillofacial region with less radiation than regular or flat x-rays, which may require several exposures in a variety of positions. Using a computer, your doctor can visualize extremely detailed views of the patient's anatomy from many different angles. This scan can clearly display TMJ disorders, impacted teeth, critical bone and teeth relationships, implant treatment planning, and difficult to see pathologies within one whole 3D
volume.

The panoramic is an overview image that is used to show the upper and lower jaws, erupted and unerupted teeth, and to evaluate root alignment, TMJ's and the sinuses.

These images are acquired in standardized lateral (side) and posteroanterior (front) projections. These views show the bone and soft tissues of the head, and are used to evaluate jaw growth and spatial relationships of the upper and lower jaws.

Periapical images show the teeth and supporting bone with a great amount of detail. These images are used to identify dental cavities, short roots, and abnormalities involving the bone adjacent to the teeth.

Periapical X-Rays:
When a full FMX series is not required, ddi can perform any combination of individual periapical images. We use the latest in periapical film for the lowest reduced radiation exposure to the patient.
